Marathon Relay – EU for sport is a 42.195 meter race, run by 4 people running 4 sections.
The running schedule is as follows: 12km – 9km – 12km – 9km. The relay teams can consist of members of the same gender or may be mixed, for instance, 2 male and 2 female members.
The ranking of the teams shall be conducted in three categories, men, women and mixed teams. Each team member gets his/her own number (1, 2, 3 or 4) indicating his/her order of leg and the sequence in which the team members shall be ordered at the exchange point.
The “relay baton” is actually the bib number with a chip attached on a race number belt (part of the race package) and this number is worn by the first runner who then hands it off to the second runner of the team and so on. All 3 exchange points are in the center of Skopje, that is, in the section ranging from “Josip Broz Tito” high school to Rekord bus stop (to be shown on a map).
Once you finish the race, the four of you get four unique medals which when joined, make a whole, just like your team.
Starting from March 28th, we start the group training sessions as preparation for the Marathon Relay – EU for sport. The participation in these sessions is free of charge and the first 100 runners who apply to attend them will receive a t-shirt as a gift and the condition is to be present at the first training sessions or to have already been registered for the Marathon Relay – EU for Sport. The training sessions will be held by our famous and experienced athletes and coaches Sasho Danevski, Kokan Ajanovski and Vesna Kiradjieva. They will take place on several locations on the banks of the river Vardar, in duration of maximum one hour, in the following days and hours:
– Monday location: Vardar bank – Holiday Inn bridge, starting at 6 p.m., gathering point: Fitness club Challenge (Madjar Maalo, https://www.facebook.com/FitnessChallengeMK/) at 5.50 p.m.
– Thursday location: Vardar bank- Bliznak bridge – Aerodrom, starting at 6 pm, gathering point: under the bridge at 5.50 p.m.
– Friday location: Vardar bank – near Park Hotel and Spa, starting at 6 pm, gathering point: Vardar bank, at the stairs in front of Football Academy Vardar, in front of Park Fitness, at 5.50 p.m.
During these training sessions, besides professional advice on how to prepare for the race, you will get tips on how to make the exchange, what to pay attention on during the race, etc. Moreover, if you do not have enough runners to complete your team, this is the very place where you find your missing team member.
